Flint Coalition for Compassionate Care

On Feb 27th the voters of the City of Flint, Michigan will have the opportunity to join at least 5 other Michigan cities

with medical marijuana ordinances on their books.   The Flint Compassionate Care

Medical Marijuana will give legal protection to patients with serious medical conditions who

obtain some small measure of relief from the symptoms of their illness through the use of

the naturally occurring medicinal herb, cannabis, more commonly known as marijuana, under the supervision of

a medical professional.

Cannabis has a documented history as a medicinal herb stretching back over 5,000 years.   It is well known to

be effective in the treating the symptoms of chronic pain, severe nausea and muscle spasicity.  Cannabis is also

known to stimulate appetite, a particular concern of people with HIV/AIDS.  In all of recorded history there

is not a single case of cannabis ever causing a death due to overdose or allergic reaction, a claim no other

medicinal compound can make.   Even common aspirin is known to cause over 7,500 deaths annually.
